The future belongs to those who prepare from today in the midst of various problems that have come their way.

AI has become a major threat that can cause many people to lose their jobs and change their lifestyles.

so Prepare for today with a strategy Standardization, setting procedures early will truly lead to everyone's salvation.

Dr. Apiwadi Piyathamrong (Senior Researcher, NECTEC) He explained that according to a study on AI Standards last year, AI standards can be achieved. Must understand the relevant laws and find that it affects developers and users in several ways.

What attracts attention to this issue is the AI ACT, or a bill that is open for public comment and is expected to be promulgated by 2024, which has an impact on developers around the world.

This has caused developers around the world to be upset, dissatisfied, or have concerns about the law that has been issued. In fact, this is not the first time that AI standards have been talked about.

This story has been famous since 2016 when people started to understand AI standards that talk about understanding various aspects of AI. Governments around the world are also interested. It is a defense of how to deal with AI to protect the people.

Going back to the AI ACT is meant to determine what level of risk AI has.

Low risk may not be a big concern, but the user must be aware that they are using it.

But if the risk is high, The developer will have to do what is called Trustworthyness AI 8 requirements and 15 subs-requirements To make developers socially responsible. Reduce the gap in AI misuse

What is Thailand's view on this matter?

Thailand intends to study foreign policy to see how it can be applied to its own country, which has become the Action Plan on Artificial Intelligence for Thailand's Development 2022-2027 and has been approved by the Cabinet.

The National Artificial Intelligence Action Plan for the Development of Thailand was also established. Many agencies, including the government, the private sector, and experts from various fields, have come together to help drive the issue.

NECTEC also serves as the secretary and assistant secretary to drive this issue, and after one year of driving, it has come out with 5 strategies as follows:

  1. AI Ethics & Regulation

What many people are worried about is Strategy 1, how will AI improve people's lives?

The success goal of Strategy 1 is to make 600,000 people aware of the importance of AI laws and regulations.

However, No agency has yet announced it into law, but there are many agencies that want to create and develop guidelines to help with exports.

  1. Infrastructure for AI

The goal of this strategy is how to create a large database link so that people can access information to develop their models.

  1. AI Manpower

It is too late to aim for AI principles at the degree level. Therefore, this strategy encourages the creation of skills at all levels, from children to adults, to understand technology, but currently it can only develop a workforce in the hundreds. has not yet reached the target of 30,000 people per year.

  1. AI R&D and Innovation

One of the key goals is to create Thailand's own innovative AI. Without AI in Thai, it will only rely on foreign technology, and it will not be able to compete with foreign countries.

  1. Promoting business and AI adoption

This will increase GDP, give everyone access to safe AI, and help improve their lives.

The key outputs of the past year according to the 5 strategies are as follows:

Strategy 1 Opened the Artificial Intelligence Governance Center (AIGC) set up to develop the
AI Governance, Policy Consulting, Knowledge Development and Dissemination

As well as building a network of AI experts both domestically and internationally.

There have been a lot of studies on the standards and guidelines over the past year, which will benefit everyone, and developers must be aware of this to reduce the risk of use and harm.

The AIAT and TCELS associations were established to standardize safety audits in AI applications.

Draft of the Act on Service Businesses Using Artificial Intelligence Systems (Opinion Mobilization Version) (August 2022)

and the draft of the Act on the Promotion and Support of Artificial Intelligence Innovation of Thailand. (April 2023)

Strategy 2 and 3 The Government Cloud AI Service Platform (GDCC) was established in accordance with the resolution of the AI Plan Steering Committee. Supported by the Promotion Fund. LANTA: HPC for public and private R&D is launched.

Strategy 4 and 5 Innovation and Application

There is integration from all sectors, both public and private. An analysis system has been established to support targeted poverty solutions. (TP Map) and a network of medical AI data sharing platforms.

Sharing of standard medical information that can be shared In order to have quality information and continue to develop effectively.

Performance in the past year

However, important projects in the next phase and challenges still await. Both in terms of application in the tourism industry, trade and finance industry, manufacturing industry, security industry, and research and development of LLM or models for generative AI that support the Thai language.
